The Huffington Post launched its first international edition in May 2011. In only five years the site has exploded into 16 markets across six continents, with more than half of its audience coming from outside America. HuffPost has more than 300 editors located in nearly 20 countries other than America and continues to expand its global presence.
HuffPost South Africa is the 17th international edition and its mission is to provide a platform for local voices and communities and deliver local news on politics, lifestyle and entertainment by South Africans for South Africans.
The Huffington Post global newsroom publishes 1 500 pieces of content in 10 languages a day on its platform and has more than 35 million followers globally on Facebook. The South African newsroom, under the leadership of editor-in-chief Verashni Pillay, is situated in Johannesburg.
