TygerBurger scoops grand prize at national awards

Media24's Community Newspapers took tops honours at the annual MDDA (Media Development and Diversity Agency)/Sanlam Local Media Awards, scooping among others the grand prize of Best Free Paper. The awards were presented at a gala dinner at the Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel in Durban on Friday. "These awards are the result of the dedication not only of the staff who won the awards but of all the people who work on these titles," Media24's head of Community Newspapers, Ishmet Davidson, says.
Media24 won the following awards:
•    Best Editorial Comment – Hennie Stander (Potch Herald)
•    Best Personal Finance Reporting – Isolde Pistorius (Vaalweekblad)
•    Best Sport Reporting – Bertie Jacobs (Potch Herald)
•    Best Feature Photography – Carina Roux (TygerBurger)
•    Best Front Page – Vaalweekblad
•    Hultzer Trophy – Polokwane Observer
•    Best Independent Established Newspaper – Polokwane Observer
•    Best Free Paper – TygerBurger
